Brian Shields
He has two very distinct bodies of work - Art of the real, which focuses on the human condition and mans relationship with nature and work of the imagined, which explores folklore, myth, and Romanticism.
Brian is a multimedia artist living in the North Eden Valley. Although primary a painter he loves to sculpt, make prints and has also experimented with film.
For someone who considers himself to be a cheery optimist Brian is often surprised and bewildered as to the melancholy nature of his work - the yin to the others yang perhaps?! He expresses a hope that however unexpected they all display some residual beauty - strange as that beauty possibly may be?
