2020 SUMMER EXHIBITION – MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
I regret to inform you that owing to the Covid-19 situation we will be unable to stage our 2020 Summer Exhibition at Grasmere village hall. Cancelling our Summer Exhibition at this stage was not an easy decision to make. It’s something we haven’t had to do since the Second World War.
The society would like to thank you all for your support in previous years and we very much look forward to seeing you again in 2021.
However, a small exhibition of work by Lake Artist Society members will take place at the Old Courthouse Gallery in Ambleside from 22 August – 5 September 2020.
Please visit our website in the coming weeks and months, as we plan to add features and demos by our members which we hope you will enjoy!
We welcome you to the Lake Artists Society, founded in 1904 by artist W.G.Collingwood who was also secretary to the well known John Ruskin, of Coniston.
Our present elected membership is limited to 45 artists residing in Cumbria, including the English Lake District, the Northern Pennines, and the Cumbrian Dales.
*The Summer Exhibition, held in Grasmere Hall, is on for 6 weeks, attracting thousands of visitors every year. We encourage non-members to exhibit their paintings and sculpture with us. Awards are given by local business sponsors and presented to artists of merit. Exhibiting with us can lead to elected membership.
President: Kevin Chester
Vice-President: Rachel Gibson
*The 2020 Summer Exhibition has been cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
**The Council changes every year
