Stefan works largely from life; figurative paintings the result of a significant amount of in-person sittings, an understanding of the person and not just the aesthetic, with a relationship forged over months of sittings, meetings and thus creation.
Another side of Stefan’s work is plein air painting. Whether it be oil on canvas or watercolour, the works are almost entirely forged outside, in repeated visits to the location in an attempt
to capture the spirit of place utilising both traditional and experimental techniques. Stefan is currently building a body of work that is focussing on the mountains of North Wales.
