Ian Walton

Ian’s work reflects a constant search for the unusual, the random, the ambiguous and thought provoking. The work relates essentially to experimentation, to memory and presence.

Process is a key element in the eventual discoveries and outcomes of each piece through the use and manipulation of often disparate materials. Each is linked to the passing of time and the changes which may occur. They are often anecdotal, autobiographical, and can include physical fragments, impressions and references to specific places, and particular histories of those locations.

His working practice also extends into the field of installation.

This involves the use of multiple components and includes light, sound and sculpture. Each of these mixed media works reflect site specific references to place and context.
