Dawn is a painter with two main types of artwork; shelflife, where all the items within the still life are linked by a common theme, and stained glass style paintings, which allow for even more creativity, using colour and outline to great effect.
She trained in graphic design after leaving school, but didn't start painting until her early 30's, always using pencil or coloured pencil before that.
"I dabbled with oil paint but didn't get on with it because of the solvents. Once I discovered gouache I took to it straight away, and now it's the only paint I use. I want my art to convey a message, whether deep or just whimsical. I have always been interested in people and the things they use, finding inspiration anywhere, from a good story to a favourite song".
