Ceri Allen studied Fine Art Painting at The City & Guilds School of Art , London . She has exhibited widely and her work is represented in public and private collections in the UK and USA. Collections include Tullie House, Carlisle, St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington and Corpus Christi College, Oxford . She has been selected for Artist Residencies at University of Cumbria, Corpus Christi College, Oxford, Kronstadt, St Petersburg with the NCCA and with ‘Demi-paradise productions’ at Lancaster Castle.
She was recently commissioned to produce a painting of Corpus to commemorate its quincentenary for The Oxford Almanack 2017

The information and other details below are based on the current COVID regulations and the anticipated relaxation at some date prior to handing in your works at Rheged. Any changes to the COVID regulations may result in amendments to these details.
You must be permanently resident in Cumbria
email@example.com and images of framed works to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before Monday 2 August. Any images received after this date will not be included in the selection process. Images must be good quality (JPEG or TIFF) and approximately 1MB in size.
Each image file name should include:
Name of artist
Dimensions in centimetres (height, width and depth)
For 3D sculptures and ceramic pieces you may include 2 images from different angles if you wish
A submission fee of £15 for one work and £20 for two works must be paid to the Society’s bank account (see entry form for details of the account)
You may submit one or two works for sale
2D and 3D works are admissible
All works submitted must be original. No copies of any kind are admissible
No works may be exhibited which have previously been in any public exhibition in Cumbria
Editions of prints or sculpture must be on sale exclusively from the exhibition during the period it is open to the public
The name of the artist and title are written on the back of the work
No works accepted for the exhibition can be removed before the close of the exhibition.
The Society reserves the right not to select any work submitted without giving any reason.
You will be able to attend the Private View.
If the details shown on the entry form differ from any entry you would like to be shown in any electronic or printed material regarding your entry, please ensure that you provide these details separately.
Due to current COVID restrictions the selection process for non-members will be slightly different this year. Rather than a ‘handing in’ day the submission process will be online.
The Selection Panel will meet on Friday 6 August
Selection results will be sent to your submission email on Monday 9 August (please check your spam folders if you haven’t heard on this day or contact the society on email@example.com )
Selected work must be delivered, securely wrapped, to Rheged in the week ending Friday 3 September
Prize-winners will be notified on 13 September
ALL WORKS SELECTED BY THE PANEL MUST BE EXHIBITION READY WHEN THEY ARE HANDED IN:
All works intended to be wall mounted must be presented in a frame capable of accepting mirror plates.
Please remove all hanging fixtures and tape them in a sealed envelope, for use by the purchasers, to the rear of the work
Metal, plastic or clip frames will not be accepted
Diffused picture glass and frames and mounts of an unusual colour, size or design may prejudice the chance of selection
Notwithstanding selection by the Panel any work that does not meet these criteria when delivered will be rejected.
A commission of 40% inclusive of VAT will be charged on the selling price of all work sold.
You will be advised of artwork sales at the end of the exhibition and monies owing will be paid into the your bank account, no later than 6 weeks after the close of the exhibition
Works will be insured by Rheged at the sale price for normal risks from the time they are handed in at Rheged until the time they are collected at the end of the exhibition or dispatched by Rheged.
Transport to and from the exhibition is not insured.
COLLECTION OF WORKS:
Purchasers are required to collect works from Rheged at the end of the exhibition.
If the purchaser is unable to collect the work it will be sent to them by Rheged, the cost of which will be charged to the purchaser.
Unsold works must be collected from Rheged on 26 November. If you cannot make this date please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an alternative solution.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP:
Applicants for election to Membership of the Lake Artists Society must be permanently resident in Cumbria
Applicants must have two works accepted for the current year’s exhibition
The following process will be followed unless there are changes to the current COVID regulations
All applicants are required to present images as defined above of not less than five additional items of recent work, framed or unframed, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 30 September 2021
All applications will be assessed by the Society’s Council Members and those short-listed will be put forward for consideration at the AGM.
Lake Artist Society Members present at the AGM vote on the applications and applicants will be notified if they have been successful and, if not, what stage of the process they reached
Successful candidates will be invited to become Members of the Lake Artists Society and will be required to pay an initial subscription of £35 due on 1 January 2022 following election and annually thereafter in accordance with the Rules of the Society.
Elected to the Society 2008
Born in 1958 and lived in Ambleside until moving to Kendal once married. Now living back near Ambleside, at Loughrigg.
Self taught artist with no formal training but had a passion for drawing and painting from a very early age. Likes to paint mainly in watercolour and enjoys many and varied subjects - trying to capture the different textures and materials found in a still life or the beautiful landscapes of Lakeland - being a keen fell walker.
Elected to be a member of the Lake Artists Society in September 2008 and has been a member of the Ambleside & District Art Society for over 20 years.
