Janette Phillips

Elected to the Society 2016

Following degrees in graphic design and fine art practice and theory, my creative life today is underpinned with time spent drawing, looking, mentoring and musing.

Following a recent studio move my work has evolved into an ongoing dialogue with my ever shifting view across the Morecambe Bay estuary towards the Lakeland fells. This investigation into my new sense of place, along with an exploration of the possibilities of the paint itself, has begun to move my work towards a layering of seen and felt experience, full of colour, light and awe.
This dialogue between myself and the evolving abstracted landscape paintings when faced with the elemental theatre that is my daily vista, is one of my favourite parts of the creative process.
