Ian has exhibited nationally and internationally and has lectured here and abroad. He has collaborated on sight specific installations with artists writers and musicians, involving sound, light and sculpture. His work is primarily land based and explores through processes and experimentation the relationship between nature and man.
With the physicality of the surfaces, combined with the infinite combinations of substances and media, traces can be found of the visual evidence of human presence. Aesthetic choices are often governed by instinctive responses to past histories, autobiographical references, and reflects the emotion of being amidst and part of nature, which can include memories of time passing and the evocation of place.
