The information and other details below are based on the current COVID regulations and the anticipated relaxation at some date prior to handing in your works at Rheged.  Any changes to the COVID regulations may result in amendments to these details.



  1. You must be permanently resident in Cumbria
  2. You must submit a completed Non-Members Entry Form by email to and images of framed works to on or before Monday 2 August.  Any images received after this date will not be included in the selection process.  Images must be good quality (JPEG or TIFF) and approximately 1MB in size.
  3. Each image file name should include:

Name of artist


Dimensions in centimetres (height, width and depth)



  1. For 3D sculptures and ceramic pieces you may include 2 images from different angles if you wish
  2. A submission fee of £15 for one work and £20 for two works must be paid to the Society’s bank account (see entry form for details of the account)
  3. You may submit one or two works for sale
  4. 2D and 3D works are admissible
  5. All works submitted must be original. No copies of any kind are admissible
  6. No works may be exhibited which have previously been in any public exhibition in Cumbria
  7. Editions of prints or sculpture must be on sale exclusively from the exhibition during the period it is open to the public
  8. The name of the artist and title are written on the back of the work
  9. No works accepted for the exhibition can be removed before the close of the exhibition.
  10. The Society reserves the right not to select any work submitted without giving any reason.
  11. You will be able to attend the Private View.
  12. If the details shown on the entry form differ from any entry you would like to be shown in any electronic or printed material regarding your entry, please ensure that you provide these details separately.



Due to current COVID restrictions the selection process for non-members will be slightly different this year. Rather than a ‘handing in’ day the submission process will be online.

  1. The Selection Panel will meet on Friday 6 August
  2. Selection results will be sent to your submission email on Monday 9 August (please check your spam folders if you haven’t heard on this day or contact the society on )
  3. Selected work must be delivered, securely wrapped, to Rheged in the week ending Friday 3 September
  4. Prize-winners will be notified on 13 September



  1. All works intended to be wall mounted must be presented in a frame capable of accepting mirror plates.
  2. Please remove all hanging fixtures and tape them in a sealed envelope, for use by the purchasers, to the rear of the work
  3. Metal, plastic or clip frames will not be accepted
  4. Diffused picture glass and frames and mounts of an unusual colour, size or design may prejudice the chance of selection
  5. Notwithstanding selection by the Panel any work that does not meet these criteria when delivered will be rejected.


  1. A commission of 40% inclusive of VAT will be charged on the selling price of all work sold.
  2. You will be advised of artwork sales at the end of the exhibition and monies owing will be paid into the your bank account, no later than 6 weeks after the close of the exhibition


  1. Works will be insured by Rheged at the sale price for normal risks from the time they are handed in at Rheged until the time they are collected at the end of the exhibition or dispatched by Rheged.
  2. Transport to and from the exhibition is not insured.



  1. Purchasers are required to collect works from Rheged at the end of the exhibition.
  2. If the purchaser is unable to collect the work it will be sent to them by Rheged, the cost of which will be charged to the purchaser.
  3. Unsold works must be collected from Rheged on 26 November. If you cannot make this date please email to arrange an alternative solution.




  1. What data do we hold - Information that you provide us, such as your name, postal address, phone numbers and email address and details of works you have exhibited with us.
  2. How we use your information - Your data will only be used for the legitimate purposes of the Lake Artists Society in connection with Exhibitions.
  3. How we protect your information - All information we hold about you is held securely and backed up regularly on a secure system. We never share information with third parties.


Rights of access, erasure and objection - It is important that the data we hold is accurate and up to date; please inform us if any details need to be amended.  By law you have the right to request access to and correct the data we hold or object to the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.  If you wish to review, verify or correct any of the details we hold please email




  1. Applicants for election to Membership of the Lake Artists Society must be permanently resident in Cumbria
  2. Applicants must have two works accepted for the current year’s exhibition



The following process will be followed unless there are changes to the current COVID regulations

  1. All applicants are required to present images as defined above of not less than five additional items of recent work, framed or unframed, by email to by 30 September 2021
  2. All applications will be assessed by the Society’s Council Members and those short-listed will be put forward for consideration at the AGM.
  3. Lake Artist Society Members present at the AGM vote on the applications and applicants will be notified if they have been successful and, if not, what stage of the process they reached
  4. Successful candidates will be invited to become Members of the Lake Artists Society and will be required to pay an initial subscription of £35 due on 1 January 2022 following election and annually thereafter in accordance with the Rules of the Society.
