Elected to the Society 2005
Dawn trained in graphic design at Cumbria College of Art and Design in the 1980`s and worked for twelve years after that in two different printing establishments, designing and producing artwork for local producers such as Wilson`s and Quiggin`s Kendal mint cake, eventually leaving the printing industry to pursue a career as a fine artist. The medium Dawn likes to use is gouache painted on heavyweight watercolour paper.
Her still life work all follows a particular theme and involves setting up the items onto a cardboard construction then sketching it straight onto the paper before painting over it.
Dawn has had her work exhibited with: The Discerning Eye, Royal Society of Miniature Sculptors and Gravers, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, The Society of Graphic Fine Art, 21st Century Watercolour Exhibition and Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition.
Dawn has a selection of work at the Old Courthouse Gallery, Ambleside. She also exhibits every year with the Lake Artists at the Summer and Winter Exhibitions, Milnthorpe Art Exhibition, occasionally at the Beach Hut Gallery and Youdell`s art shop and gallery.
